Los Angeles, CA – Sep 21, 2008 –Green was the theme at the Mix Media Award Suites at the Sofitel Hotel in WEHO which was packed with celebrities – proving that the push to “Go Green” is a high priority for all. And what better way to do your part in saving the environment (and your relationships) than by staying in and playing a round or two of the new dating activity, Playing the Field, the best way to cover your bases and discover more about your friends and lovers! Invented by Amanda Brown, it is on regular playing cards but has a wonderful conversation starting question on each card.
The talk of the Suites was the buzz around the blackjack table where Scott Copon of Scorpion King II, Reid Scott of My Boys, Jeremy Glazer of Save Me, McKay Stewart of Eagle Eye and Kato Kaelin were dealing hands of Playing the Field Blackjack and answering the questions on their cards with hosts Amanda Brown and Brandon Birtwistle.
Amanda Brown reported an overwhelming response from the celebrities that she met. “I knew that my game would cause quite a stir with everyone visiting the party, but I have been astounded by the feedback! I’ve been receiving phone calls for the past week from celebrities who pulled out their game and started playing it with friends as soon as they got home. It’s great to hear their stories and answers to the questions…opens up a whole new perspective into someone…whether you thought you knew everything about them or knew nothing at all.”
Touted as “your new BFF to take on a date with you” Playing the Field has been featured on CNN, Cosmopolitan Magazine, DailyCandy.com and numerous other media outlets. She is presently being courted for various opportunities, but her ideal cameo? “My Boys,” said Amanda, “I think they could use a Dating Coach on their show who comes complete with a dating game that they could use for poker nights. I see a great story line in the making here! And after meeting Reid I would be delighted to spend a few hours hanging out on the set with him – what a great smile!”
As an added benefit to being included in one of the top Swag Suites surrounding the Emmys, she used her time with celebrity friends as a chance to highlight her charity of choice, Global Lead. Touted as the modern version of the Peace Corps, Global Lead was created by one of her close friends, Garrett Graveson. Based on the premise of overseas volunteer service, Global Lead connects students to projects abroad as a way of expanding cultural horizons and creating a greater awareness of the world. Many of the celebrities visiting the suites enthusiastically answered and autographed playing cards which will be auctioned off next spring at a benefit gala supporting Global Lead. If you are interested in finding out the answers of the many celebrities…stay tuned next spring when their answers go on the auction block!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Atlanta, GA – Sep 16, 2008 – Is it time for Jim and Pam from The Office to press the “easy button” on their love life or continue the lingering anticipation? If only those characters could play a round or two of Playing the Field… their relationships might be as successful as we can imagine (or last more than a couple of episodes). Luckily, the VIPs and Celebrities attending the Mix Media Award Suites event surrounding the Emmys will have that chance. Atlanta, GA – Sep 9, 2008 – For those who know, love and live in “Hotlanta” it comes as no surprise that it ranks as the #1 city for Singles.
Atlanta’s top Date Designer, Amanda Brown, has known this for some time. In her travels and interviews across the US she advises those searching for love on the best date ideas and ways of connecting to improve their chances for a successful relationship.
With 74 million singles in the US, the biggest problem made on first dates by men and women is the inability to communicate. Being based in Atlanta (#1 town for singles!) gives her the ability to research, gather information and discover more about the concerns and fears of those who are ‘playing the field’.
As a Dating and Relationship expert who is on the front lines of single life, her experiences and daily dealings provide a grounding platform from which to help others. The information she has gathered proves that the top concern for men and women is the ability to communicate openly and effectively during the initial get-to-know-you phase of dating.
“It is important to cover your bases so that the ebbs and flows of your love life do not wreak havoc on your life. Leave the madness of the paparazzi love life to Brittney Spears and Lindsey Lohan; there is enough craziness in this world! Your love life should be the grounding force that gives you stability and peace.”, says Amanda.
As one of the young Atlantans to watch on the social scene, she knows that the coolness factor, the cost of living and the extensive variety of first dates are paramount here in the #1 city for Singles. “The Olympics put us on the map a decade ago. Now our sophisticated singles are putting us on the map again! I’m always being told that the Southern women have the warmest smiles and sweetest personalities. Of course the men are going to beat a path to our door!”
To discover where your city ranks on the list go towww.forbes.com.
To help the cosmopolitan, career-driven single viewers in your city, book Amanda. Her background and expertise in helping singles makes the possibilities for their chance at love much higher!

Atlanta, GA - May 23, 2008 - In one week the important figures in today’s literary scene will converge on the second largest book expo in the world!
Amanda Brown is debuting the release of her new book, The Field Guide to Playing the Field, to a projected audience of 30,000+. The companion book that ties in with the game she created, Playing the Field, is the first book in a series that will be introduced this year.
The game got ‘em talking, the book will get ‘em listening. With 100 million single Americans looking for love the need for a Dating DesignerTM to take the helm and help guide the singles through the murky dating waters is apparent!
“It’s obvious that the singles of the world are looking for that one figure to hang their hopes on. Someone who is there in the midst of it all with them and can help with a theory based upon a common sense foundation, a huge heart and a mix of laughter and mischief. No one wants to be told that they are doing everything wrong, but they do want to be shown how to do it right,” said Amanda Brown during interviews last week.
Amanda’s quest for her company, creations and writing is to bring back the lost art of conversation. Building upon that idea she introduced her game last year. A series of four ice-breaking, question-asking, conversation-starting decks of cards used to get to know your partner better. Her book, The Field Guide to Playing the Field, follows along the same format as the game, yet answers the questions and gives needed guidance in a fun and lively format.
Available for signings and discussions at Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA. Friday May 28 - Sunday May 31, 2009 Booth 5650 at the Book Expo America, Amanda will be entertaining guest of the show by dealing Blackjack and getting the answers to the questions at hand. A Blackjack table topper autographed by various celebrities and musicians will be given away the last day of the show.
A cocktail party will be held the evening of May 29th from 7pm-10pm (Red carpet arrivals at 6:30) at Eleven Restaurant & Nightclub in West Hollywood (8811 Santa Monica Blvd - www.eleven.la). The signature martini, book, game and special guests will be present to celebrate Amanda’s expanding Date Designer TM game, book and life.

It Started - The Day the Homerun was HIT!
Everyone asks about Playing the Field and how it came about. The first thing I tell them is that this big idea is the story of my life. My 1,000 watt smile came about after my “ah-ha” moment when everything came together and the design and the creation began flowing from me to you.
Changing my Life and Converting it into a Game
January 2005. I sat down to work on my New Year’s resolutions. I looked back through my journals of past years and realized my big dream was “wanting to find my special someone”. My little voice was whispering constantly that I wanted desperately to find my soul mate. When I shared this with the girls, they too opened up and we began sharing our deep desires, hopes and dreams. We uncovered common things that we all wanted in all areas of life…it was those typical conversations that crop up during deep thinking and wine drinking times.
On a whim, one of my friends convinced me to sign up on an online dating service. She had been on it for months without success but still wanted me to try. I took her challenge but added the twist that I wanted to see what the impact of presenting our smiling faces to the world would do. Two days later our profiles hit the market…3,000 hits and a week later, I realized that I had just taken on another part time job! I suddenly was on a new journey but interestingly enough, it wasn’t about me, it was learning about the male psyche! I quickly discovered the problem why I hadn’t found my soul mate…there was a gap between what we wanted and what they wanted and I went on a mission to find the common denominator.
One of my friends was so intrigued with what I was doing, she arranged for me to be interviewed as a contestant on the local radio station’s version of speed dating. I was nervous so I prepared. I did practice runs, and with a bottle of wine, prepared myself the best I could. I wrote out questions and all my responses and I felt I was ready!
Now understand, I was one of many women on the show. What blew me away was all the other women just showed up, and when they were quizzed, they were not prepared. Because I was prepared, the guys noticed me and not them. Their reactions were completely different and I felt very connected.
Then it hit me…I realized that I had hit upon a golden idea!
The guys are just as interested in finding a great gal as the girls are looking for a great guy! All it took was asking them about their goals, beliefs and likes and dislikes in the other person.
Wow, my brain said “Make it a game and everyone will play”. I decided I was going to change the world of relationships with a simple game.
I questioned all of my friends to find out the top five things they would want to know about a first date. Their answers ranged from, “Would you have sex on a first date?” to “What is your five-year plan?” and a whole lot in between. I put on my thinking cap and came up with 500 questions that would work—and not just the typical yes or no answers, but questions that allow for storytelling and explanation that would enable you to really dig in and see what the person was really like. Next convert it to a business and putting the game together and taking it to market!
I Formed a Company and Surrounded Myself with the Best!
Luckily, I am surrounded by remarkable and smart friends who all have amazing talents. So I decided to leverage all of our natural abilities into one company. I tackled the whole process of graphics, prototypes, legalities, how to license a new product, how to distribute it ….then discovered that I could do it all on my own. A year and a half later, I was ready, sold my house to fund the company, and off we went! The game was a hit and sales exploded! A lot of friends couldn’t see my dream, but it was clear as glass to me. I am now on a mission to change the world of relationships with my simple game!

The game contains two hundred and eight of the sauciest, most tantalizing, and hilariously funny questions imaginable so really…the possibilities are endless. There certainly aren’t any rules (way too many in the rest of life!) but there are several ideas we’ve tried that we love to share
1. Crack open the box and start with the First Base deck. Inevitably men will reach for Homerun but trust me…start with First. Set the deck down between the two of you and take turns asking the questions. You can opt to only have the non-card holder answer or you can both chime in with answers.
2. In a group- set a deck down in the middle and take turns picking up cards around the circle. Our rule is usually that the card holder doesn’t have to answer but everyone else in the circle does. Or to speed things up a bit, the card chooser selects one person of their choice to answer.
3. Out with a crowd - take out the deck and ask the top card question of one person then put that card at the bottom of the stack. After the answer is given pass that person the deck of cards. They then pick one person from the group to ask the question on the next card. Continue zig-zagging the questions around your group of friends. Involve everyone around you. If a microphone is available, put it to use! The more you can get involved (especially in a public place) the more fun you will have listening to the answers!
The idea of Playing the Field to Home Base in one sitting is too daunting. Even I can’t talk that long! Break it up into baby steps, grab a single deck and make a night of it. The decks are totally portable and perfect to stash along for an evening at your favorite restaurant. It’s that simple! No trinkets or little pieces to lose, no score sheet to tally, just the new juicy knowledge you take with you about your partner!

Playing the Field – The Card Game
Tired of spending months trying to figure out if the person you are dating is really the one for you!?! Playing the Field is a series of card games including 1st Base, 2nd Base, 3rd Base, and Home Run, with questions exploring ideas you want to know about someone but may not feel comfortable asking at the onset of dating. The questions become more intimate and descriptive with each level of the game. For adults 18 to 98.
Playing the Field – 1st Base Deck of Cards
Ready to start the conversation!?! Playing the Field 1st Base will put players at ease and make it fun to open up on those first dates or with a group. A great icebreaker to use in getting to know someone by pitching a series of fun and insightful questions.
Playing the Field – 2nd Base Deck of Cards
Playing the Field 2nd Base advance your understanding of each other as the questions get more intense. 2nd Base will help you determine if that person sitting next to you is worthy of your continued attention or if they have a freaky train of thought.
Playing the Field – 3rd Base Deck of Cards
With 3rd Base you have obviously built a certain level of comfort, but it is time to dig a little deeper. Knowledge that sometimes takes years to acquire (if ever!) will rise to the surface. The questions become more intimate and descriptive as you acquire a greater understanding of each other through what I consider to be some of the tougher questions.
Playing the Field – Homerun Deck of Cards
Playing the Field Homerun you are encountering the “long term” questions from the series of four games. It’s time for the final test. Up the ante, throw out some tougher and more intimate questions - you know, the deal breaker type. Pitch the last series of fastballs and see if they score a run. Will they take home plate?
The Field Guide to Playing the Field
This book follows the questions of the game and is the coaching guide to help you in relating to your relationships. It is a common sense, sassy spin on a healthy approach to life, love and relationships from someone who has lived through all types of dating escapades! Read up on those subjects that most people won’t talk about. Written in a refreshing way!
The Scouting Report Relationship Workbook
This workbook helps you to get your head on straight and ready to date. The Scouting Report Workbook provides you with the life cleansing and correcting exercises that we all need to do in order to attract what we want and desire in ourselves and our mate.

Providing a conversation in a fun and playful manner on a deck of playing cards, the game allows couples to discover more about each other and if they are with the right “one.” For those who discover otherwise, the game is recyclable. “If it doesn’t work on the first person, reuse it on the next!” as the recycle label exclaims on the box.
Amanda also offers up more help in a sassy, southern manner with the debut of her new book, The Field Guide to Playing the Field, entertaining readers with practical dating, relationship and life guidance. Excited about the chance to help guys better understand the complicated, yet intriguing, female psyche she jumped at the challenge. “I’m always the one that my guys take aside and talk to about their dates. It is a tough thing…trying to decipher the plays, comments and actions that some people make when they are dating. Luckily, I have the common sense factor that helps to keep them on target.”
Giving the scoop from the stoop, the show is the newest “Guide for the Guy” on the airwaves. Directed towards the stylish, hip and normal guy, the show gives the latest news, sports, health, gadget and relationship guidance for the 24 to 44 year-old market in talk show format. “I realized that there was something missing for those of us in this segment of the market,” says John Gomez, creator and host of the show, “we want to hear the latest and greatest without all of the craziness, gossip and cheese that you hear from most stations. Just good, clean, fun guy talk.”

February 1, 2007 (Atlanta) – Not certain of what to say on that first date? Tired of spending months trying to figure out if the person you are dating is really the one for you!?! With divorce rates on the rise and careers taking precedence, women are becoming more independent and dating is harder than ever.
Amanda Brown, a Dating & Relationship Expert, wants to make getting to know that special someone easy and FUN with a cheeky card game called Playing the Field.
“I created Playing the Field to ease the pressure of getting to know someone,” stated Brown. “Playing the Field is a deck of playing cards but with a twist – each card has a question exploring ideas you want to know about someone but may feel uncomfortable asking at first.
The series goes from 1st Base to Home Run with the questions becoming more intense and risqué as you progress around the bases. Playing the Field simplifies the discovery process and narrows down the months it would normally take to get to know the ‘real person’ you are dating. This game allows people to learn more about each other in a playful and thought-provoking way. I chose a card game because it’s easy and fun, and the deck of cards is small enough to put in your bag when heading out” added Brown.
As an added bonus, Brown has included a Body Language Cue Card. Since ninety percent of what is said is nonverbal the BLCC gives the player who bought the cards the upper hand by explaining the subtly of body language. Everyone needs the extra advantage of being able to decipher and understand the “moves” of the one they are dating!
How to Play
Intended for a sit-down-get-to-know-you date, the cards provide the vehicle for storytelling. No scoring, no extra pieces, just a deck of cards placed between the couple with the back and forth exchange of questions and answers…the easiest and most inexpensive thing ever when planning a date!
The 1st base deck consists of non-intrusive yet playful questions like… “Have you ever gone skinny-dipping?” and “If you were an animal what would you be?”
In the 2nd base set, couples advance their understanding of each other with such questions as, “Have you figured out what you are going to be when you grow up?” and, “Define sexy.”
As couples let their guard down and eye third base, they are tantalized with questions such as “If money were not an issue what would you be doing with your life?” and “Do you have any strange sleeping habits?”
Now that the couple has successfully passed 3rd base and has home plate in sight, the questions take on a more intimate and personal tone, such as, “Are you happy with where you are in your life?” and, “Where is the wildest place you’ve had sex?”
What it all means
Playing the Field is a common sense way to get to know each other that I think more people should apply when dealing with their relationships. The game takes the pressure off trying to think of the next cute thing to say by putting those questions out there that you want answered….for once you can actually listen! There is no scorecard – just a mental check. None of us has time to waste with dead-end dating - if your date gives bad answers to three important questions strike him out and look for another player. With the game, people are getting the chance to know each other one-on-one,” Brown explained. “Playing the Field makes dating more fun on your way to finding ‘the one’! There are 100 million sexy singles out there and Spring Fever is in the air! Everyone should try Playing the Field!”
